"Medea" the play

In school we are reading plays the play i'm reading is Medea by the euripides so far I have read about Medea and how she wants revenge on her husband that has left her and trying to plan out ways to kill him and her children. I think medea is crazy for wanting to get revange that involves killing her children and husband. Why does she seem so possessed with killing her husband and children?
